After a competition, update your athlete media kit by checking the result, replacing outdated plans and testing the version a sponsor will actually open. Pan No-Gi 2026 offers a timely reminder: a finished event should leave your public information clearer, whatever your placing.

In its recap published on 6 October, the IBJJF highlights black belt double gold for Pawel Jaworski and Sarah Galvão. Its results table lists Jaworski first in adult male black belt medium heavy and open class, and Galvão first in adult female black belt middle and open class. Those details give a result its meaning beyond a photograph of medals.

For emerging athletes, our off-mat takeaway is a short maintenance routine. You do not need to rebuild your presentation after every event. Check what changed, edit the relevant sections and leave the rest alone.

Make a change list before editing

Open the media kit you last shared, not just the editable file you happen to have on your laptop. List statements the event may have made outdated: your next competition, a preparation goal, a featured result or a promised recap.

Give each item an action: verify, replace, remove or keep. An accurate older achievement can stay. A sentence saying you are preparing for an event that has finished needs new context. This approach keeps the update focused rather than turning it into another design project.

Add a result with its full context

If the new result belongs in your selected achievements, record the event, year, age category, belt, division and placing. Check the organiser's published information and link to the relevant result where possible. Do not use an incomplete entry as evidence of a final placing.

Our guide to presenting achievements explains why the labels matter. Keep personal reflections separate from the factual record. ā€œI was pleased to compete abroad for the first timeā€ tells a different story from a verified placing; both can be useful if true.

A difficult result does not make an update pointless. You may simply retire an outdated competition announcement, add a short reflection and state your next confirmed plan. Do not manufacture a breakthrough to justify changing the page.

Check the rest of the kit without inventing growth

A competition result does not automatically mean your audience figures changed. Update social statistics only when you have fresh measurements, retaining the platform labels and measurement dates. Leave unavailable numbers out rather than estimating a post-event increase.

Review the featured image, contact details and partnership ideas too. An image should still represent you accurately and be suitable for the intended use. Remove an offer tied to an expired opportunity. If your next project is undecided, you can say that instead of displaying a plan you no longer intend to pursue.

Test the shared version and finish the handover

For a PDF, export the revised file and open that export. For a webpage, open the public link. Check the title, dates, links and mobile readability. A saved change in your editor is not the same as a corrected document in a recipient's hands.

Keep one current version easy to identify and archive older copies privately. If an active conversation depends on information you corrected, send the contact the current version with a brief explanation of what changed. Avoid sending an unsolicited update to every person you have ever contacted.

For a partner already supporting you, a media kit refresh is background maintenance. It does not replace your agreed sponsor update or other outstanding work.

Our take: close the event, keep the story current

A useful update makes it easier for the next reader to understand where you are now. The practical win is consistency between what you say, what the evidence shows and what your shared link contains.

  1. Audit the last shared version. Mark every statement affected by the event.
  2. Verify one result. Keep its full division context and source.
  3. Replace expired plans. Add only confirmed next steps and measured figures.
  4. Open the finished version. Test its links and tell relevant existing contacts about material corrections.
